Tuesday 12 July - Saltash Utd 1 v 5 Torquay Utd

Goals from Brett Williams, Sam Chaney, Dan Sparkes, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, and trialist Jamie Chamberlain. Started with a diamond formation in midfield. Damon Lathrope shielded the back four with Sam Chaney to the left and Courtney Richards to the right. Dan Sparkes was allowed some license to roam behind strikers Nathan Blissett and Brett Williams.

Thought we needed a wide player with Blisset on the pitch, service was poor in the first half a few players lack fitness but it's early days.

Whats Chamberlain like? Every time he plays for us he seems to get on the scoresheet. Does he have something about him that could cut it at Conference level, or does he just have the knack of getting in the right place all the time?

He did ok but best not to comment on individuals at this stage it's just training but a bit more.

If we're only going to have three forwards (currently two) fighting for 2 spots then having Chamberlain around on a part-time/appearance basis could well work. It depends on his situation, but if he could train with us from time to time and play for his local side when not required, there might well be a lot of times it'd be very handy to have a striker on the bench, plus possible rotation for cup games.

Having seen Sean Finch play at Cheltenham last season, he would need to be well above his level, but Gerring has shown that the jump from Bideford to TUFC squad player is possible, and if we're only going to have 17/18 pros then we could do a lot worse.

I see Vassall is on trial at Luton but we are still monitoring him. I think he'd be quite handy to play wide right and up front if needed.

Also interested to see how the right back Dollery gets on. A six month deal for a non-league trialist shouldn't cost the earth and could suit both parties until Durrell is nearing fitness again.

Truro City 2 Torquay United 3 was the result I heard for yesterday's (25 July) pre-season friendly. Anybody see the game, know who played? Any match reports?

Match report
First 15 mins we looked shaky.
Thereafter first half we looked lively with Blissett Sparkes and Williams looking good.
New haircut for Gus, didn't recognise him at first!
Entertaining game both goalies made good saves.

Don't think Chay Scrivens is a trialist appears from WBA manager's twitter account we have got him on loan: Main position - right winger.
