Re: TEAM OF 2004 - Where are they now?
I just found he looked lost at times, but to be fair, he was very young at that time (maybe 17 or 18) and still had a lot to learn. He obviously had something to him considering where he was got to now. Signed him for Torquay on Football Manager many times! If my memory serves me correctly, was it ...

Re: Little club syndrome...
The Play offs are cheating yeah, but I have learnt to live with it. Bristol Rovers have lost play offs against Huddersfield and Northampton despite finishing way ahead of them in the league, and they have also won a Play off when finishing 6th. The old style play offs were a much fairer solution. A...

Re: Little club syndrome...
Bristol RFC got shafted by Exeter Chiefs. Bristol RFC won The Championship by a country mile and battered everybody and finished top of the pile comprehensively and Exteter finished miles behind. Yet Exeter raised their game in a one off and beat Bristol in the final to gain promotion. That is why ...

Re: Little club syndrome...
Fonda - I get what you are saying but to I imagine that most similar size clubs are run in a similar manner. I don't necessarily agree that we appear amateur - we just can't spend the money to have professional services in all areas. I think as someone said earlier the main voice as to the small cl...

Re: The Shortlist
What is it people like about Ian Baraclough? I know little of him, other than his dismal spell at Scunthorpe...so dismal in fact they sacked him rather quickly to take Alan Knill from Bury instead. What makes people think he would be ok here? my gut instinct is no!

Re: The Shortlist
Wouldn't want Butterworth at all, he was only in charge of Norwich for 6 days and lost his only game. Kept chopping and changing what he was doing when he first went into management in 1997. Read below, doesn't inspire me with confidence. In basically one season he played for 4 clubs and was player...

Re: skybet next manager odds
Forster now 1/3 on Victor Chandler with Hughes 2nd at 9/4. Ian Butterworth not on the list yet, whilst Bullen still is, even though he was not on latest 'shortlist' published by Herald Express

Re: skybet next manager odds
john hughes not even quoted on skybet this morning, have i missed something?? Skybets odds are a waste of time. They still have Trollope (who doesn't want it) and Andy Scott (manager of Rotherham) listed. Look at Victor Chandler...they seem to have the 'shortlist' as we thought it was...Forster had...

Re: Little club syndrome...
I'm not on about spending beyond our means. My point was about the mentality of the club. If our finances dictate the very best we can achieve is 20th in the division, so be it. I'm not advocating risking the future of the club by gambling on acheiving more. My point was regarding the outlook of th...

Re: According to one of the board...
I agree. O'Kane is he kind of player that you could build a team around. His performance at OT was the one bright point of a crap day. He will be the reason that people pay to watch us play To suggest that selling Billy, O'Kane and Zebs will see us go down is wrong in my opinion. It is what how we ...

Re: Little club syndrome...
I endorse small club syndrome. It is a lowering of expectations that provides greater satisfaction when we are successful and a sense of proportion when we are not. If you take it too seriously then TUFC will burn you. When all said and done we are a small club, with small crowds in a footballing b...

Re: According to one of the board...
I can imagine the board would accept £50,000 or less for Zebroski, although you suspect that if it was someone like Barry Fry selling Zebroski Bristol would have to pay £250,000. You just do not get the feeling that our board are good negotiators or know the value of a player. With reg...
